Ras Haitrm, the leading name of reggae in Mozambique, releases a new album on May 19 at Cinejoia!
The opening show is by the musician Dada Yute, partner of Haitrm and one of the main exponents of Brazilian reggae today. The Mozambican Ras Haitrm is the number 1 in reggae and ragga/dancehall in his country, in the south of África. Self-taught, he learned to make music at the age of eight, when he used a homemade guitar, made from tin and fishing wire. At 16, he began playing and composing professionally and, today, he is famous on the African continent. With three albums released, Haitrm performs with the Mozambican band Word Sound & Power, made up of young and talented instrumentalists. Composer, singer and lyricist, Haitrm creates songs that carry messages of unity, respect, peace and non-violence, foundations of the Rastafari philosophy.

CONEXÃO MOÇAMBIQUE-BRASIL

The Moçambique-Brasil connection, which goes beyond Portuguese colonization, brought Ras Haitrm to the country in 2011 for a series of shows. The Haitrm sound soon gained prominence in the alternative scene, due to its excellent quality. The musician went through São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Salvador and Lençóis (BA). He was honored, made a lot of noise and exchanged valuable experiences, in addition to participating in the Manos e Minas and TV Cultura programs.

HAITRM IN BRAZIL

Brasil Haitrm shares the stages with the band Guerreiros de Sião. The Mozambican's affinity with Brazilian musicians emerged spontaneously and quickly. And the partnership resulted in the recording of the CD “Zion Bridge”, which he releases on Cinejoia, on São Paulo, on May 19th. The mix of the new album is signed by the Mozambican producer and sound engineer Jah Knomoh, famous in the African sound system/dancehall scene. Knomoh also produced the song “Turn to di east”, which Haitrm recorded in partnership with the Brazilian Dada Yute, one of the main exponents of national reggae.
