Jamaican Eek-a-Mouse has been getting into trouble in recent years. Well known for what he produced musically especially in the 70s, he gained international fame and was a constant presence at major shows in Europe, the United States (where he was illegal for a long time) and also in South America.
A few months ago, the singer was arrested and deported to the United States where he was to be tried for the crimes of rape, kidnapping and possession of illicit substances. He had been arrested in Kill Devil Hills (USA) in August 2008, the day after a concert in the region. After paying a bail of 52,000 dollars, "Eek" left the country and did not appear at the scheduled trial in 2010. Therefore, judge Jerry Tillett issued an arrest warrant and a fine of 1 million dollars if he did not appear.
In November he was arrested at Paraguai without a proper visa, deported and soon after extradited to face American justice. If convicted of all the crimes committed, Ripton Joseph Hylton (his given name) will face around 20 years in prison.
