According to the history of world music, the 60s to 80s can be considered a true idol factory. In different musical rhythms, great beasts emerged that are still idolized and copied today, such as Bob Marley, Luiz Gonzaga, The Beatles, among many others. However, there are two things in people's lives from which there is no escape: time... and circumstances.
When we talk about Reggae, one of the most loved and hated (discriminated) rhythms in the world, it is possible to see that time and circumstances have been quite cruel. The great rhythm legends are leaving one after the other, like a quick row of dominoes falling... tragically or not. For this reason, a question arises that deserves to be raised: “Are there pieces (or names) worthy of carrying forward and replacing the losses that the music Jamaicana has suffered?”
In some fan communities, the losses of great idols, as was the case with Joseph Hill (Culture), Justin Hinds, Stanley Beckford (Starlights), Lucky Dube, Gregory Isaacs, and more recently Junior Murvin, brought terrible feelings, as if something had actually happened to a family member. Seeking to demonstrate the importance of each of the legends that have passed away, Surforeggae innovated an idea that other international portals have already done, but without much notoriety: a special section with a list of the great losses that reggae has had.
What we do in life echoes throughout eternity.”
In other words, let these bands know that material gains are gone, but honest and admired work is immortal. May we have great surprises for the future, and may the feeling of love, peace and unity always prevail in this music that is undoubtedly the nourishment of many souls around the world.

TIME IS THE MASTER
A phrase often cited in Reggae songs is precisely “Time is the master” (Time is the master), being used by veterans such as Don Carlos, to new names such as Easy Star All Stars. The quote really rings true when it is time that takes away legendary artists, as well as being responsible for creating new icons. Can you imagine what the quote from today's famous artists could represent in the near future? Even with the emergence of big names, the situation in the market today, where money and status increasingly take the place of what is truly done from the heart, is a cause for concern on the part of even the least enthusiastic. Of the big names mentioned, which we can even call “relief” for reggae lovers, artists such as Luciano, Midnite, Groundation, Nasio Fontaine, Bambu Station, stand out. Bushman, Morgan Heritage, Anthony B, Tarrus Riley, Capleton, Gentleman, Tiken Jah Fakoly, among others.
UMA TRIBUTE
“Surforeggae In Memoriam”, as it was named, provides photos and various special information, such as the cause and year of death, as well as a popularity search, among other aspects, representing very important content for any reggae lover who wants to know a little more about those who left us. Innovation comes precisely from the organization of information and mainly from the richness of details and presentation of the material. Time is the master and will take all the remaining great legends from the golden age of global Reggae. We don't know exactly when, but it's inevitable. Therefore, it is necessary for the artists of the new generation to really reflect on where they are taking something that was created with love and that does not deserve to be lost for money. Some time ago I saw a film that had its own phrase for these bands that are heading this list of “next legends”:
What we do in life echoes throughout eternity.”
In other words, let these bands know that material gains are gone, but honest and admired work is immortal. May we have great surprises for the future, and may the feeling of love, peace and unity always prevail in this music that is undoubtedly the nourishment of many souls around the world.
