The year 2015 has so far been very good for reggae in the Bahian capital. While the local band movement is heating up strongly and new artists are packing alternative venues, the city has already hosted three major events so far: the Natiruts DVD recording, Bob Marley Day, and last Saturday, the meeting of SOJA and O Rappa.
The night began with the band O Liberato, led by vocalist Igor Liberato, blending sounds in the vein of rock, reggae and MPB. The repertoire included original songs such as "Tudo sobre ela", plus hits by Cidade Negra and Maria Rita.

This year SOJA completes 8 years of touring Brazil, and performed its fifth show in the city, going through all its albums and making the crowd sing along to hits such as "I Don't Wanna Wait", "Revolution", "Strenght to Survive", "Faith Works", "Rest of My Life" and "You and Me".
Jacob Hemphill (vocals and guitar) this time alternated on vocals - more than usual - with Bobby Lee Jefferson (vocals and bass), which made the show even more dynamic. Also noteworthy was the performance of Trevor Young, who started as the band's roadie and today holds the role of backing vocalist and guitarist.

The band also paid tribute to drummer Ryan "Byrd" Berty's birthday, who according to Jacob's own words, is the one who works the hardest.

The repertoire included hits such as "Pescador de Ilusões", "Mar de Gente", "O que sobrou do Céu" and also a duet on the song "Everything Changes" with Jacob Hemphill (SOJA), which the two groups recorded together as a remix and which also yielded a music video.
Two established and experienced bands - it could only turn out like this - yet another beautiful event held in Salvador to stay in memory.
SOJA
At a Wet'n Wild already packed with about 20,000 people, SOJA presented its new show full of new songs for the Bahian audience, especially from the album "Amid the Noise and Haste".

RAPPA
Next, O Rappa showed why it is one of the strongest bands on the national scene today. In a show full of samplers and many influences from international Jamaican and European reggae, the group impressed by maintaining a very strong connection with the audience during the long show of about two hours. Vocalist Marcelo Falcão also showed familiarity with Salvador when speaking of places he visited and people he met here. That bond became even more evident when O Rappa sang a chorus from an Edson Gomes hit and invited Igor Kannário to the stage, an artist known in the city for having great strength in the outskirts.
