Delroy "Spider" Thompson, the great sound engineer, passed away in Jamaica at the age of 63. Spider suffered complications from a heart attack and died in hospital on July 8. He collaborated with a series of veteran artists and producers such as Gussie Clarke, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Marcia Griffiths, Third World, The Mighty Diamonds, The Congos, Yellowman, Gregory Isaacs and Alton Ellis. Recently he mastered the album of Brazilian artist Igor Salify. Spider is survived by two children and his fiancée.
