The Global Superstar program opened its doors once again to reggae. This time, the first pleasant surprise for rhythm lovers came with the performance of GrooVI, a band from Porto Alegre inspired by the sound of the Virgin Islands.
They performed the classic "I'm Still in Love" by Alton Ellis, which was also covered by Sean Paul in 2002. The song also featured a snippet of "No Pop no Style" by Althea & Donna.
With 82% on the thermometer the band qualified for the next phase of the program and was the second most voted of the day, behind only the São Paulo rock band Turnê. We are rooting for them and hope more national reggae bands appear in the new edition of the program.
Superstar, now in a new time slot, starts at 1:00 PM on Sunday, right after Esporte Espetacular.
