The Marleys strike again! Damian wins another Best Reggae Album of the Year award!
When it comes to the Grammy, the Marleys remain unbeatable. This time, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley's "Stony Hill" was chosen for the 2017 Best Reggae Album of the Year award. Many bet on Chronixx's "Chronology" or Morgan Heritage's "Avrakedabra" as strong contenders, but it turned out otherwise. J Boog with "Wash House Ting" and Common Kings with "Lost in Paradise" also competed.

Despite the unquestionable importance of the Marley family in the global reggae scene, many reggae fans question the award's credibility because year after year the result is almost always the same: a Marley family member winning a Grammy, even when competitors clearly have enough quality to be named "album of the year". Of 34 awards in the category, the Marley family has won almost half: 13 Grammys! The "Reggae" category award began in 1984, the year Black Uhuru took the prize home. In 2016, the winner was also a Marley (Ziggy) with the self-titled album.
