Yesterday, June 30, drummer and music producer Nelson Miller passed away after a heart attack. He gained international fame for his work with Burning Spear.
Nelson was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica, and was influenced by legends such as Lloyd Knibbs (The Skatalites), Carlton “Santa” Davis (Peter Tosh) and Mikey “Boo” Richards (The Wailers).

Nelson played on, produced and co-produced many Spear albums since the late 1970s, starting with Hail H.I.M, a masterpiece of Jamaican reggae. More recently he recorded with another icon - Clinton Fearon, in addition to playing with fellow Jamaican President Brown.
