“Three Little Birds” resurfaces in the ska funk rhythm, and will be present on the new album by Toots and The Maytals which comes out on August 28th, through the label Trojan Jamaica / BMGRingo Starr is the percussionist for a new version of Bob Marley's classic “Three Little Birds” by reggae veterans Toots and The Maytals. The song is now on all music streaming platforms and is the third - and final - single that precedes the new album by Toots Hibbert's band.
The album "Got To Be Tough" arrives in the world on August 28th via the Trojan Jamaica/BMG Records label. The new “Three Little Birds” also features a special appearance by one of Bob’s sons, Ziggy Marley, in the voice role. The guitar is played by Ringo's son, Zak Starkey - drummer for The Who and co-founder of the Trojan Jamaica label alongside the powerful Sharna “Sshh” Liguz - and the drums are signed by Jamaican Sly Dunbar, from the famous duo Sly & Robbie. Timaço!
The track is funky, with a ska flavor and driven by a brass section, a totally different vibe from the original version. The song “Three Little Birds”, by Bob Marley and The Wailers, was released in 1977, on the album "Exodus". Interestingly, in 1980 it was re-released and reached the Top 20 in the UK music charts, accompanying the explosion of reggae in British music.Photos:Tim Cadiente; Hugh Wright*; Scott Gries/Invision/AP
