Digitaldubs launches documentary podcast with unreleased content in Portuguese! Listen!
The podcast ESTUDANDO O DUB, presented by Marcus MPC, has arrived on streaming platforms. With an average duration of 20 minutes, the podcast aims to delve deeper into various themes in the reggae universe, ranging from its origins in Jamaica, inspirations coming from Africa and the diaspora and its developments and influences around the world, especially in Brazil. MPC, in each edition, will feature the participation of the main experts on the subject in Brazil. The premiere episode features the participation of BNegão, Bruno Natal, Calbuque, Marcelinho da Lua and Otávio Rodrigues. The title of the podcast came from the song, released by Digitaldubs in 2017 in partnership with two giants of world music: Jamaican Lee “Scratch” Perry and Bahian Tom Zé (the name of the song in turn is inspired by the album “Estudando o Samba” by Tom Zé).

Listen on your favorite platform:bnd.link/estudandoodubThe music unfolded into an artistic performance - a mix of dance and class - taking the powerful Digitaldubs sound system to the art gallery space and playing the chronological history of the Jamaican rhythm on vinyl. We launched this performance at the Multiplicidade Festival, which took place at the Oi Futuro space, in Rio. Our goal was, in 2020, to do a short tour of cultural centers, art galleries and museums... but we were unable to do so due to the pandemic”- reports MPC. On the other hand, the moment was ideal to put into practice another old desire: making a podcast. The mission is to explain unprecedented content in the Portuguese language format, dissecting topics related to Jamaican music, which despite its great popularity in the country, lacks publications and channels that help to understand it. The first two episodes have the support of SECEC of the State Government of Rio de Janeiro, through the #CulturaPresente Notice. You will be able to listen to the content on the main streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Deezer, Youtube, among others.
