Mourning! World reggae loses one of its greatest legends, bassist Robbie Shakespeare!

Unfortunately we lost another Reggae giant. Robbie Shakespeare, legendary Jamaican bassist for the duo "Sly & Robbie", has passed away after a long period battling health problems. Robbie had already been weak for over a year and lived in Florida where he even underwent kidney transplant surgery. The musician is among the list of the 50 most important bassists in the history of music, according to Rolling Stone Magazine. Alongside Sly he worked with an impressive number of stars not only from Reggae, but from other styles. Grace Jones, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Bob Dylan, Peter Tosh, Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil and even Vanessa da Mata are on the list. Robbie has been nominated for a Grammy 11 times, including recently for his appearance on the album "Sly & Robbie x Roots Radics - The Final Battle." The news shocked fans around the world and represents an irreparable loss. Rest in peace.
