Nengo Vieira launches his new album, "Mata Atlântica", on stages in São Paulo!

NENGO VIEIRA was born in Cachoeira, a historic town in the interior of Bahia, on the banks of the Paraguassú River, where, around 1600, representatives of dozens of different African peoples landed, and hundreds of indigenous nomadic peoples also passed through there in the same period, forced to work in sugar cane cultivation, and more: the Portuguese colonizer, the Spanish, the French and eventually the English, each with their influences, aesthetic preferences giving new forms to the cultural environment.
It was the beginning of all colonization of the Country. Rich in the images of its historical culture, rich in the original influences of its music, which for generations and generations, from father to son, from the sharp mandolin of his Deraldo, who gathered the family and neighbors in unforgettable soirees, to the guitar of young NENGO, who was only 8 years old and already lived amidst all that effervescent cosmopolitan richness of the small town in the Bahian recôncavo, in contrast to the peace, purity, and charm of the original sixteenth-century streets that still remain there, preserved. Perhaps for all of this NENGO VIEIRA has stood out with all his work in such diverse, authentic musicality, at once regional and worldly.
Influenced, still, by elements of black music, from blues, soul, funk, ska and rock, through MPB, what became most striking in NENGO VIEIRA's compositions is the tranquility, the ethereal state of his songs that penetrate the soul and comfort the spirit, making us reflect on the purity there is in every thing in the world, even when addressing social issues; or when speaking about unconditional, sublime love that arises before reflection, before thought; or still, when singing about the sensual tenderness of his girls, always transmitting to us a serene joy and a faithful commitment to the eternal.
Like every great introspective artist, NENGO VIEIRA gradually reacts against his shyness by participating in several memorable performances, marked by growing empathy with an eclectic and enthusiastic audience, having also worked with various artists as arranger, instrumentalist and composer (some songs became hits as in the case of Basta Man, Somos Libertos, Chegada), from Edson Gomes (Fala Só de Amor), Sine Calmon (Divino e Roda Pião), Tribo de Jah (participation on the album 'Reggae na Estrada', playing guitar, bass and drums on some tracks), and many others, such as Novos Bárbaros, Camisa de Vênus, Zezé Mota, Chico Evangelista, Zelito Miranda, Lazzo... also being a founder of Remanesentes, a group that influenced an entire new generation and provoked a true musical explosion in Bahia.
NENGO VIEIRA has performed at various events in different Cities across Brazil, always very well accompanied by the Banda Tribo D'Abraão, formed by Felipe Moreno – drums; César Matos – bass; Carlos Mendes – Guitar; Augusto Junior – keyboards; Marco Jones – percussion; Valéria Vieira and Ana Paula – backing vocals; with them he recorded his first two CDs: 'Somos Libertos' and 'Mata Atlântica', the first released by Atração Fonográfica and the second, entirely independent, produced and distributed by NENGO VIEIRA and the label Colé, Tânias?! Records. NENGO VIEIRA besides playing and singing signs all the songs building his unique space in the hall of great composers and arrangers who stand out for their own style.
