Ponto de Equilíbrio didn't perform, but the night was saved by Om Zion's roots reggae in Vinhedo!

We had barely left a session of "hits" with Alpha Blondy and, after posting all the coverage on the prince of Côte d'Ivoire, we were already heading to Vinhedo, where the band Ponto de Equilíbrio would perform at Jah. Due to financial problems and the existence of a date that would cover that issue, the event was postponed to the 29th. OK, but what to do with the night of the 15th? Easy, we have Om Zion. This new São Paulo band, more precisely from Barra Funda, had the tough job of trying to satisfy at least a good part of the crowd that came to support the absent band from Rio de Janeiro.
With approximately an hour and a half delay, the guys took the stage for what would become another roots experience for the audience present. The first touches on the bass and the band's posture on stage already made us aware of the kind of philosophy shared by Om Zion.
With a distinctive look (foto) and already established even by Brazilian bands like Leões de Israel, the São Paulo band set the weight on the Jah stage. Covers of respected bands on the world roots scene like Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru, Gladiators, and others were present on their set list. Om Zion also showed their own songs like "Nova Mídia", "Carruagem", "Paz", "Vida Bandida", etc., making it clear that the new national roots crop is here to stay.
Covers that stood out were "Senegal" by Black Uhuru, "New Life" by Midnite and "Sattamasagana" by The Abyssinians. The performance was filled with competence and commitment. One of the covers was Bob Marley's "Crazy BaldHeads", which featured guitarist Carlos Eduardo of Muvikaya (foto).
Those expecting established roots were surprised by Om Zion's heavy sound; so open your eyes and ears to the new names in national reggae; we can affirm that this weekend cheered the hearts most in need of that rare and honest reggae music.
