With five years on the road and two CD's under their belt (Chimarruts 2002 and Todos Somos Um 2003), the band Chimarruts releases the third album of their career this Friday, December 16th. “Livre para Viajar”, the title given to the new work, features 14 new tracks, including “Nova Ordem” (the work song that can now be heard on the radio), “Versos simples” and “Eu tenho fé”. “Livre para Viajar” (Orbeat Music) was produced by Marcelo Fruet and demonstrates the excellent musical maturity achieved by the band.

TEXT BY RODAIKA DAUDT

I still remember the day I met Chimarruts. Because of the relationship between the band's name and the typical drink of the Gauchos, we scheduled a report on Mercado Público. Amidst very regional herbs and products, I realized that it was a group of friends, happy with life and music. The face of reggae. At that time the band was still independent and with the same simplicity of its songs it conquered spaces and hearts. The first CD already gained hits played on the radio and a legion of supporters ("Iemanjá" and "Chapéu de Palha" are from this group). From the second album, the song "Deixa Chover" became an anthem in the public's mouth during the shows. Certainly the most memorable moments for the members of Chimarruts took place during the performance of this song on the countless stages they were on. Joy and experience that tuned the band towards the next work. Now Chimarruts presents its third album released by Orbeat Music. "Livre para Viajar" could not be better named. The band, now mature and with several performances and fans from Brasil abroad, is consolidating itself as one of the most important in the south of the country and, therefore, can now experiment. The foray into ragga-muffin appears in the first track. The song "Nova Ordem" plays with elements of reggae and, unpretentiously, invites you on a journey of good vibes. Tati takes over one of the band's vocals once and for all and performs "Eu Tenho Fé", also composed by her. That's where Chimarruts wanders through hip-hop, making clear the mix of influences from all the band's musicians. The clear tribute to the great reggae idol is in "Roots Rock". In this song, Bob Marley also inspires the verse that gives CD its title. Revering Jah, singing for peace and love like warriors of words, Chimarruts makes its songs prayers of faith, even when the reggae is more accelerated and danceable as in the eighth track: "Jah Jamais Permitirá" also features well-applied brass. It is also worth highlighting the harmonics in the song "Mensagem", which together with Rafa's vocal charisma, has the same look as Chimarruts at the beginning of his career. The embrace for a beautiful cause comes tight in the cry "Vida Urgente", practically an appeal for attachment to life in the form of music. In this track, and also in "Sound System", Nê assumes authorship of the songs and vocals. And it also features a special appearance by Pancho (Comunidade Nin-Jitsu) on electronic drums on the thirteenth track. "Versos Simples" is the most beautiful on the album. Almost like a rehearsal in voice and guitar, the song can easily be translated as "Redemption Song" from Chimarruts. vibrant, romantic, full of experimentation and spirit, the band's third album comes loaded with the experience that can only be achieved through shows, coexistence and companionship. This time the priority was the mix of desires of all members: each one with their own influences and experiences. Chimarruts continues to be that group of friends who make songs from the heart.
