Emotion at the funeral of Brent Dowe, lead singer of the Melodians, another loss for world reggae!
Brent Dowe, 59-year-old Jamaican and lead singer of the Melodians trio for over 40 years, passed away on January 29th from a heart attack. During Brent's wake, his daughter Kimberley Dowe and survivors Tony Brevett and Trevor McNaughton sang some songs emotional about the singer's departure. The group The Melodians, active since the Rocksteady era in the 60s, scored several hits, such as "Rivers of Babylon", which became the soundtrack for several American and African films. The trio recorded with Jamaica's best musicians and produced several important Rocksteady and Reggae albums. Some friends from the music world were present at Brent Dowe's wake, such as John Holt, Derrick Harriot, Tony Tuff, Pam Hal, King Jammy and Bunny Lee. Brent Dowe's body will be cremated soon.
