Today, 13/02, Reggae loses another one of its soldiers. Derrick Lara, one of the members of the vocal group “The Tamlins”, has died of lung cancer.
The group was formed in the 1960s and scored some solo hits, such as “Baltimore”. The “Tamlins” became internationally known for backing legends such as Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, John Holt and Dennis Brown live and in the studio.
Originally the vocal group was formed by Carlton Smith, Junior Moore and Winston Morgan. The latter was replaced by Derrick Lara in 1983, after a series of shows with Peter Tosh. Derrick left an extensive discography of singles and albums, both solo and accompanying other artists.
