End of an era! Four days after Tabby's murder, Bunny Diamond leaves us after complications from diabetes.
One of the most important vocal trios in the history of reggae comes to an end, unfortunately in a tragic way. One of the Mighty Diamonds' lead singers, Fitzroy 'Bunny Diamond' Simpson, passed away this morning after a long battle with diabetes, just four days after the other member, Donald 'Tabby Diamond' Shaw, was murdered in Jamaica. Bunny Diamond was 71 years old.

I can't deal with this… it's hard. The second of the Mighty Diamonds to pass away in four days. He died this morning in hospital, having been ill for some time. Losing Tabby and Bunny so close together is a difficult thing to deal with..."," Frankie Campbell, president of the Jamaican Vintage and Affiliated Artists Association (JAVAA), confirmed to DancehallMag. Simpson suffered a small stroke on October 26, 2015 while driving in Kingston, his wife Sylvia revealed. He reportedly battled diabetes for several years. Following Tabby's death on Tuesday night, Judge – the only surviving member of the group – told DancehallMag that he didn't sleep all night after hearing the news.

The Mighty Diamonds had a strong Rastafarian influence. The group was formed in 1969 and remained together until 2012. They are best known for their debut album "Right Time" and are known for songs such as "I Need a Roof", "Right Time" and "Pass the Kouchie". Tabby, Bunny and Judge have released over forty albums in their long career. Their smooth harmonies and choreographed stage show were inspired by 1960s Motown vocal groups such as The Temptations, The Impressions, as well as Jamaican rock artists John Holt and Ken Boothe. The Mighty Diamonds have received numerous local and international honors. The group received the Order of Distinction in the Officer Class in 2021 on the 59th anniversary of Jamaica's independence. Rest in peace.
