Last May 12th was exciting to say the least for reggae and rock lovers... (?) it may sound strange, but only reggae and all its dynamism can provide such satisfaction. From a teenage obsession with listening to Pink Floyd's album "Dark side of the Moon" over and over again, Lem Oppenheimer - from Nova York's Easy Star label - had the audacity to play on what is one of the most important works in the history of rock. With more than 40 million copies sold around the world, the "Dark side of the Moon", album from 1973, is now more "dark" than ever! The Easy Star label project gave rise to "Easy Star All-Stars", a group of renowned musicians gathered to make this Pink Floyd classic one of the most surreal things in the history of the music industry.
The stage for the show was Via Funchal, a renowned music venue in São Paulo, and around 10:00 pm the concentration of people was large. A Firebug, the opening band, only started playing at 11:30 pm... but who was in a hurry? Those in charge of the pick-ups were none other than DubVersão! It was stone upon stone, coming from rare vinyl copies that explored all aspects of the Reggae. Bem, show time... Firebug on stage.
This São Paulo band is one of the most respected in the national "cenário roots", and features the multi-instrumentalist Victor Rice, who controlled the mood of the songs with his melodies (a wind instrument very present, for example, in Augustus Pablo's classics, and is also called Harmonica or Escaleta). Singing their own songs and reggae classics like "Chase the Devil" by Max Romeo, Firebug lifted the Via Funchal with a sound of attitude... whether it's the weight of the Reggae Roots or the ska feel. The songs "Injustiça" and "Bate Volta" had the illustrious participation of B Negão (ex-PlanetHemp), who made a point of leaving his point by dedicating the song "Injustiça" to the two politicians, according to him, more marketers from Rio de Janeiro: Anthony Garotinho and Marcelo D2!!!

LET´S START DE DUB SIDE
The time to amaze has arrived... Easy Star All Stars dominated the stage, starting its performance with songs from the Easy Star label such as "Fighting", "Drifter" and "Climbing up the Walls". Hundreds of fans of Pink Floyd and the good old Jamaican rhythm shared the same expectation. When the light ceased, a spasm of joy took over the crowded "quase" Via Funchal... the "insano" side of what was already insane began. Every time the song starts, there's an explosion in the crowd. "Time" was responsible for one of the highest points of the night, where the audience sang word for word with an above-average receptivity... the musicians felt it. In "The Great Gig In The Sky", words would be ridiculous to try to define the perfection and height of tones that the vocalist reached. The bass lines were relentless, and the pounding drums typical of the style, left "Money" as another of the main songs of the night. With absolutely no breaks, the band didn't give people time to breathe, and "Us & Them" starts. The chorus of this classic was sung with great fervor. "Dub Side of the Moon" was recorded 3 years ago, and the result has been so good to the public, that they are already producing a dub outfit for a big Radiohead album, "OK Computer". If you didn't attend one of the best reggae shows ever in Brazil, be sure to check out the album "Dub side of the Moon", which has an interesting fact: The duration of the album "Dub" is exactly the same as "Dark", that is, that trick from the movie "Mágico de Oz" also works with the DUB version (Learn more about the subject). Until next time!IMAGENS DO EVENTO
