U-Roy, one of the biggest legends in the global reggae scene, tours South America! Don't miss it!

U-Roy - Jamaican from Kingston, born in 1942, began making history in music as a sound system DJ in the 1960s. In 1967 he worked alongside King Tubby; at that time U-Roy greatly refined his avant-garde style. U-Roy and Tubby worked in Duke Reid's studio; U-Roy was a disc-cutter, and it was in Duke's studio remixing tracks, testing new sound textures over different beats, creating new versions, that U-Roy discovered dub. These records made with special remixes were called dub plates and produced especially for U-Roy's sound system. Over time, in his remixes, U-Roy removed the original vocal from the tracks, opening space for toasting (spoken improvisation). In this way U-Roy became the great precursor of RAP. U-Roy has worked alongside several legends of Jamaican music such as Lee Perry, Dennis Alcapone, Dunbar Sly(bass), King Tubby among others. In October 2006, Zeroneutro will be carrying out in South America the tour of this artist who certainly means a great deal to the legacy of world music.
