On his first visit to Brasil in 2005, the impressions left were the best. After a year of waiting, Estados Unidos's biggest reggae band returns to Brasil and makes its debut on the South American tour in São Paulo, at Expresso Brasil. This time just the main attraction was enough to fill the venue, which had a choir of 14,000 voices. The show started at 2am with an instrumental that shook the house's structures, showing why the group is so respected by world reggae musicians. Groundation is made up of excellent instrumentalists, such as the vocalist and leader of the band Harrison Stafford (who has taught the only higher education course on reggae in the world and is still called a teacher), the keyboardist Marcus Urani who brings to the band strong influences from Jazz and who has already been instructed by the world-renowned jazz pianist Jeff Pittson, and the bassist “Iron” Ryan Newman who is considered today one of the greatest reggae bassists, being praised even by “Aston Barret”, bassist of “The Wailers”, King Marley's group. The band, despite being relatively new, has several works and performances alongside the biggest reggae names in the world, such as Don Carlos, Cedric Myton (Congos), Ijahman Levy, Ras Michael and Pablo Moses. From the album “Hebron Gate” came the rock that shook Expresso, "Weeping Pirates". Soon after, "Praising", from the album "We Free Again" which shows all the band's competence. What was impressive was the audience that, in addition to being full to capacity, sang all the songs, making one of the biggest choirs for international reggae ever seen by the team Surforeggae. The band felt the energy and was clearly happy to be playing at Brasil, perhaps impressed by the reception and not knowing how popular they are here. At the end of the show, going down to the dressing rooms, we witnessed the humility of the American band who didn't want to be far from the fans, staying outside talking to everyone, not caring about the harassment, taking photos, signing CDs, clearly happy for another successful night, and of course, already hoping for the best in other commitments in several Brazilian cities and others across South America.
