SOLANO JACOB

SOLANO JACOB is an artist distinguished by his ability to compose in Portuguese and English, which expands the possibilities of exchange between different cultures. He received his training in English through Cultura Inglesa de São Paulo, where he studied for more than ten years and obtained his proficiency in the language through qualifications at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford. SOLANO is a biology professor, bachelor and graduate from the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of São Paulo - USP, writer and musician with a significant influence on the national reggae scene.Born in São Bernardo do Campo in the late 70s, he has been working throughout Brazil for over ten years, including abroad in the hope of combining music with education in the process of building the human spirit.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

He was the creator and vocalist of the São Paulo band Leões de Israel for six years, work in which he gained career advancement as a singer and composer through great hits such as Filhos Rebeldes, Secou a Fonte, Ouça a Profecia, Me Gwann, Jah Jah Children and Treading Around the Land, as well as the release of two albums entitled: Pilares da Justiça (2002) and Palavra Viva (2005), both with significant sales of 20,000 and 40,000 copies respectively.On the road, he performed in the main Brazilian capitals - Salvador in 2004, where he performed and accompanied Gregory Isaacs, a renowned Jamaican singer during his tour of South America that included cities such as Buenos Aires, Fortaleza, Aracaju, Belém, São Luis, Recife and São Paulo. In his luggage we also cannot fail to mention his joint participation in festivals with big names in world reggae such as: Israel Vibration, Don Carlos, Midnite Band, Fullyfullwood Band, The Gladiators, Peter Broggs and Gregory Isaacs.In mid-2006, SOLANO JACOB together with his original band were invited to represent Brazil at the biggest Jamaican reggae festival, REBEL SALUTE FESTIVAL. Amidst the great legends of Jamaican reggae such as Burning Spear, Cocoa Tea, Third World, The Congos, Inner Circle and Luciano, Solano Jacob achieved applause and respect from the Jamaican people while singing"Me Gwann", one of his favorite compositions.

CULTURAL VISION

Upon returning from Jamaica in January 2006, SOLANO JACOB brought a new job proposal. In a solo career, after two years of preparation, in May 2008 he brought an unprecedented project –"A FÉ E A RAZÃO". Proof that music and the act of thinking are allies in any educational process, the work is presented in two complementary parts: the album containing 12 tracks and the book with the same title.
