The season of big reggae shows in the capital of Bahia always heats up at the end of the year, and proof of this are three major events for the months of October and November, including Surf Eco Festival, which took place last Saturday, October 24th.
The sand on the beach at Jardim de Alah (near Aeroclube Plaza) was full of people celebrating the Surfing Championship that welcomed top athletes from the world rankings. The night's attractions include the pop-rock band Os Sônicos, two well-known names in the local scene - Adão Negro and Diamba, the biggest name in the national Reggae currently - Natiruts, and the debut of Cidade Negra with a new vocalist in Salvador.
THE BEGINNING
The event started around 6 pm, with the band Os Sônicos who welcomed the audience, who still arrived shyly at the show location. With the announcement of Adão Negro as the next attraction, movement outside was imminent. The show featured hits from the first CD "Adão Negro" such as "Feedback" and "Adão Negro" and also new songs from the CD "Pele Negra", such as the hit "Anjo Bom". It was a very energizing performance and applauded by the large audience present, who also saw the participation of Luciano (Banda Mosiah) during Adão's show. Announced as the biggest pop-reggae band at Bahia by the announcer, Diamba was the next attraction of the night, also pleasing those present with the vibe seen both on the dance floor and in the box during the show. Diamba already has a 13-year career and is considered one of the biggest bands on the Bahian reggae scene. In the show, the highlight was an unusual version of "Love Got Mi" by Clinton Fearon, sung in Portuguese.BLACK CITY: WARM PREMIERE
The Salvador audience was very curious to see for the first time how Cidade Negra was doing with its new singer Alexandre Massau. After disappearing from the media for a long time, the group returned with a new team of musicians, and has been trying to get back on its feet, even announcing a new album that should be released soon. Although Cidade Negra's excitement on stage was great, the audience didn't respond much, especially because the band's biggest hits such as "Girassol", "Querem meu sangue" and "Onde você mora?" received a very different look than usual, much more accelerated and which didn't seem to please.NATIRUTS EXPLOSION
Natiruts, the most anticipated attraction of the night held the audience until the end, and they didn't seem to regret it for a single minute. On the title track of the new album - "Raçaman" - Alexandre Carlo sings: "E essa conversa que se vendeu, que se trocou que se perdeu, na nossa firma não cola". Just as they themselves say, it would be hypocritical to say that Natiruts has sold out and that it does not represent Brazilian reggae well. The show was simply incredible, leaving the audience mesmerized in a sequence that went from protest reggae, to romantic, roots, ska and also dub. In the repertoire, in addition to the biggest hits such as "Presente de um beija-flor", "Verbalize" and "Liberdade pra dentro da cabeça", the band has already shown a little of the new album, such as the track "Raçaman", which opened the show. Also noteworthy is the setting at the back of the stage, and above all the sound created by the group's musicians, enriched by infectious percussion elements and also by very well placed brass. As if that weren't enough, we also highlight the group's sound technician, who made a huge difference compared to other bands, adding a special flavor to the show. We would like to congratulate the entire Event Production Team, who threw a very beautiful party, with a very good structure and in a pleasant space by the beach, which certainly brought an even more special magic to the Reggae night! Now the Bahian public awaits República do Reggae, the biggest rhythm festival in América Latina, which will take place on November 7th with the presence of other major attractions.Category
