The list of competitors for the 52nd Grammy of "Melhor Álbum de Reggae de 2009" was recently announced. Highlight for one of the biggest names in rhythm - Gregory Isaacs, nominated for his new album "Brand New Me", which was released on tour at América do Sul in November. Finally, the Academy recognized the work of the artist, who has been building an exceptional career for 41 years. Copeland Forbes, manager of Cool Ruler (As Gregory is called) said that the last tour was the best experience he has had in América do Sul in his entire life. Copeland has worked with almost all of the Jamaica artists. Names like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Toots & The Maytals, Black Uhuru, Luciano, Bob Andy, Marcia Griffiths, The Mighty Diamonds, Dennis Brown, Apache Indian, Yami Bolo, Frankie Paul, Maxi Priest, among dozens of others, have worked with Copeland who will soon be releasing the book "Reggae my life is" (My life is Reggae) recounting his experiences over more than 40 years in the entertainment business. Following the line of recent years, Marley are also very well represented - by Stephen with "Mind Control" and "Awake" - sensational album by Julian Marley. Already taking the lead in the Ragga and Dancehall are Buju Banton with "Rasta Got Soul" and Sean Paul - "Imperial Blaze", which despite not having been as successful in the USA as with their previous albums, defeated an extensive list of other competing names.
