The Salvador Summer Festival, the largest music festival in Brazil today, has already brought major national and international Reggae acts. Attractions such as Burning Spear, The Gladiators, Maxi Priest, Big Mountain, Ponto de Equilíbrio, Natiruts and Cidade Negra have performed over the event's more than 10 years.
For the 2011 edition, there is already talk of a stage dedicated solely to Reggae for all 4 days of the festival. Until that happens, the original rhythm from Jamaica will be represented by two Bahian acts — Adão Negro and Semente da Paz — and by Rio's Cidade Negra. The three acts will perform on January 20 (the first day of the festival) at the Concha Acústica Faculdade Maurício de Nassau, alongside Jau, a Bahian artist with strong Reggae influences in his sound, and Margareth Menezes, another great name in Bahian music.
The Summer Festival takes place at the Salvador Exhibition Park from January 20 to 23 and every year draws a true multitude, with people from all over the world gathering to enjoy the most diverse musical styles.
