"Look and listen to the original", said vocalistDavid Hinds, one of the remnants of the original 1975 lineup ofSteel Pulse. With his long, thick dreadlocks and impeccable voice, Hinds commanded a great reggae show for just over an hour. The lineup has drums, bass, guitar, a backing vocalist and two keyboards, which often act as brass sections, and was very well rehearsed, in addition to having very competent musicians.Steel Pulse's show was, in fact, the most anticipated on the stage, which previously hadSkatalites,Ska CubanoandMad Professor. The performance started with "Find it... Quick!" - the set list also had "Handsworth Revolution" and "Stepping Out". There was even space for a tribute to Brazil, with guitaristDonovan McKittyplaying an excerpt fromHino Nacional brasileirobefore one of the songs. And so, to the sound of reggae, part of the public said goodbye toVirada Cultural2011.
