Music world mourns! Farewell to Lloyd Knibbs, drummer of The Skatalites! Learn more!

The drummer of the world-renowned Jamaican group Ska - The Skatalites passed away on May 12th. Lloyd Knnibs was 80 years old and continued to be active until then, having even come to Brazil several times in recent years. The musician succumbed to liver cancer, but his legacy as a major contributor to the development of Ska will certainly always be remembered. In addition to Skatalites, Knibbs played with Tommy McCook & The Supersonics, having recorded for major producers such as Lloyd "Matador" Daley, Coxsone Dodd and bad-boy Duke Reid. His last show was recently at Peru for the South American tour where his health condition worsened. The artist passed away at home with his family in St. Andrews, in Jamaica.
