Barry Liewellyn, one of the lead singers of the group The Heptones, has died at the age of 64 in Jamaica. The singer died earlier today, and the news was released on singer Dennis Alcapone's Facebook page. According to information, the singer felt ill and was taken to a public hospital in his region, where he was hospitalized for a short time. So far, the cause of Llewellyn's death is unknown.
Barry Llewellyn, alongside his contemporaries Leroy Sibbles and Earl Morgan, founded one of Jamaica's most important vocal trios, the Hep Ones, in the 1960s. The group was one of the most responsible for the transition from ska to rocksteady. In São Luís, they became known for the hits “Night Food”, “Diana”, “Sufferers Time” and the biggest of them, “Book of Rules”.
