One Drop festival brings Lee ’Scratch’ Perry and Mad Professor a São Paulo! Check it out!

After the first edition in 2013, with four international attractions, the One Drop festival returns bringing to Brazil the smoking-hot meeting of living dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry with the equally legendary Mad Professor in a mythical and unique performance on October 4 in São Paulo.

LEE "SCRATCH" PERRY

Lee "Scratch" Perry is a producer, singer, songwriter and sound engineer. This singular figure in Jamaican music is one of the last musicians of his generation still fully active. The near-octogenarian artist has always remained at the musical forefront, paving the way for roots to find new musical universes through sampling. Lee Perry is considered the father of reggae dub and possesses — in addition to a vast discography — his name stamped on the liner notes of Jamaican sonic pearls by artists such as Max Romeo, The Heptones, Gregory Isaacs and many others.

MAD PROFESSOR

Mad Professor is an icon of the second generation of dub reggae and ranks among the greatest English dub producers since the early 80s. Born in Guyana, he moved to London as a child and fell in love with the electronic beats so present in local culture. His sonic experiments coined the transition from dub reggae to the digital era, when electronic productions came to dominate the reggae that pulsed in the mainstream in the 80s. Master Lee Perry and his disciple Mad Professor formed a partnership in 2000, with the release of the album Lee Perry Meets Mad Professor, which has already become a world classic. This meeting is — finally — coming to Brazil for the first time, to set the One Drop Festival ablaze, produced by Zeroneutro.

SOUND SYSTEM CULTURE

The festival also brings the cream of Brazil's Sound System culture lovers. High Public Sound is a São Paulo crew of vinyl collectors — the format chosen for their DJ sets, where productions packed with low frequencies prevail, from styles such as roots, uk stepper, french dub and dubstep. And always conscious messages from Jr. Toaster on the mic. Jurassic Sound System is the only sound system in the country specialized in ska, rocksteady and early reggae. DigitalDubs, straight from Rio de Janeiro, is synonymous with a good party for over 10 years. The sound collective founded by selector Marcus Menezes is the main representative of sound system culture in Brazil, with international recognition. Marcelinho da Lua is a DJ and producer. Regarded as a star of drum'n'bass with a Brazilian accent, Da Lua became known internationally. He loves mixing sounds, from rock to baião, but always with plenty of groove. He has collaborated with artists such as Marcelo D2 and Os Paralamas do Sucesso.
