Another sad news for lovers of original Jamaican music. The bassist of the legendary group "The Skatalites", Llloyd Brevett passed away this morning at the age of 80 in a hospital in Jamaica. Much celebrated and recognized as one of the great geniuses of Jamaican music and who helped build the pillars of his country's musical culture, Lloyd had lost one of his sons, Okeene Brevett, in February, murdered shortly after receiving an award in his honor. The artist, who was already quite ill, received some awards during his lifetime, such as the Ordem da Distinção in 2010 and the Silver Musgrave medal for his contribution to music. Rest in peace, Lloyd!
