Percussionist Dino Cerqueira, former member of the band Adão Negro, dies! Find out more details.

The well-known Bahian percussionist Dino Cerqueira, who accompanied the band Adão Negro from the band's early years (1997) until reaching success, died on Tuesday night (31), in Salvador, when he had to leave in 2009, "devido aos graves problemas de saúde", according to guitarist Duda Spínola. For Duda, his friend, who is being buried this Wednesday (1st), at 5pm, at the Quinta dos Lázaros cemetery, was a fun and companionable person. "Whenever we are together we remember good times with him and laugh. The memory that remains is of a happy person", says Duda Spínola, over the phone. According to the Adão Negro musicians, for the last 18 days Dino was admitted to Hospital do Subúrbio. “Estão todos bastante abalados,” says guitarist Duda Spínola. "He passed away, as a result of heart problems that left him quite weak, since the last heart attack he had in 2008. The first one was in 2004 when the band lived in São Paulo, this one had been milder, and he recovered more quickly, this last one was more severe, he recovered more slowly, he had some after-effects, and he survived until yesterday", laments Duda. In July 2005, Surforeggae had the pleasure of accompanying the band in Curitiba (PR), where they performed with the band Hastaii and Andrew Tosh. There, the moments of relaxation were led by Dino. With a lot of experience, a good conversation was always welcome. The team sends its deepest condolences to friends and family.
