One of the country's biggest Reggae festivals is about to take place. The event República do Reggae reaches its ninth edition and will be held at Wet´n Wild on November 10. Always bringing together several national and international attractions, the festival has taken place since 2003 and has already welcomed names such as Alpha Blondy, SOJA, Groundation, Andrew Tosh, The Congos, Gregory Isaacs and Lucky Dube.
In 2012, the international attraction of the party is singer Dezarie. Born in St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the singer, who received the Best New Female Reggae Artist award in 2001, is already well known to Brazilians, since on her last tour here she was very well received by critics and the public because of her attitude and stage presence.
The group Natiruts, known as Brazil's biggest Reggae Pop band, brings from Brasília (DF) the greatest hits of its career and attracts a large audience to its performances, standing as one of today's most beloved bands. Also among the Main Stage attractions, the band Ponto de Equilíbrio has been standing out on the national scene. Originating in Rio de Janeiro, the group presents lyrics written by its own members, conveying messages of equality, love and justice.
The only artist to have participated in every edition of República do Reggae, Edson Gomes is the Brazilian Bob Marley, one of the biggest names in reggae in Brazil. His songs, mostly protests in favor of a more egalitarian system, are sung by the audience from the beginning to the end of his show. Bahia's biggest Reggae band, Adão Negro closes the Main Stage lineup, presenting the show for its new CD titled “Mais Forte”. With songs that speak of reflection, love and social issues, defining traits in the band's career, the new work presents a strengthening of the group.

With performances on two stages, “República do Reggae” will also feature the bands Natiruts, Ponto de Equilíbrio, Adão Negro and singer Edson Gomes, who will perform on the Main Stage. With the aim of promoting local Reggae bands, the Resistance Stage brings together six Bahian bands in a large-scale structure, guaranteeing a quality show for the audience. The bands Irmandade Brasmorra, Beck´s e Finos, Unidade Planta de Zaire, Shamayim Zion, Folha de Chá and Kayman were chosen to be part of this party.BEYOND THE MUSIC
During the event, several other attractions will be available to the public, such as the Kombi do Reggae, which will play world reggae classics from the beginning to the end of the party, and the Handicraft Fair of the Aldeia Hippie de Arembepe, a large tent where hippies will sell bracelets, clothes and handmade accessories. A hallmark of reggae shows, the atmosphere of peace and positive vibrations promises to be a show in itself during the event, which expects to attract around 20,000 people and is prepared to continue until 06h in the morning, when special bus lines will be running.THE MAIN STAGE IN 2012
