This past Sunday, May 11th, "Dia Nacional do Reggae" in Brazil saw the launch of the Portuguese version of the American magazine IRIE, this being the first digital magazine entirely focused on reggae music in the country. The cover of the first Brazilian edition was given to the band Ponto de Equilíbrio, accompanied by an unprecedented interview.
The launch edition also features articles from names such as Maxi Priest, Cidade Verde, Katchafire, Rafael Peppe, Alika, House of Shem and Zion Train, and includes an interview with Argentine producer Hernan Sforzini, creator of the project "A Reggae Tribute to The Beatles, Vol. II".
Nicholas Da Silva, editor-in-chief of IRIE magazine in the USA comments:
The launch of Irie magazine in Portuguese is dedicated to the entire reggae community that currently exists in Brazil. This successful launch would not be possible without our partner, Fernando Costa from Sound System Brasil and the amazing support of Maíra Durães."
The edition also includes the exclusive riddim “Blind”, which was produced by Neil Perch from the ZION TRAIN collective. You can download and use to create your own dubplate version.
