Winston McAnuff and Fixi bring to Brazil the fine blend of Jamaica and Paris! Check it out!

From the Jamaican hills to the sidewalks of Paris, passing through the sugar cane mills of Reunion Island, the duo Winston-Fixi opens a path without borders that goes beyond genres and invites us on this great musical journey. They will come to MIMO 2014 with the “A New Day” album launch show, for performances in Ouro Preto (August 30) and Olinda (September 6), in addition to performing in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre (dates to be announced soon). At 55 years old, Winston, better known as “Electric Dread”, is part of the monuments of Jamaican roots reggae both as a composer (for artists such as Hugh Mundell and Earl Sixteen) and as a vocalist. But it was in France, ten years ago, that his career exploded thanks to the Makasound label.

THE START OF MIXING

In addition to reissuing old albums, he began new musical partnerships: first with Camille Bazbaz in 2004; And soon after, in 2006, with the Java gang, “rock-musette”, to record the successful album “Paris Rockin”. That was when he met Fixi, the band's accordionist, who invited him to sing a reinvented waltz. The alchemy worked immediately and the partners decided to develop a new project. Fixi, almost 40 years old, is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer and conductor (for Tony Allen, among others) and completes the Jamaican's fiery energy with his tranquility. He loves absorbing the traditional songs found during his multiple travels and interpreting them on the accordion in his own style.
