REGGAE REAL! The Wailers e Julian Marley abalaram the estruturas do Espaço das Américas!
Last January 21, 2015, can be considered historic for the reggae scene. For the first time together on tour, the king's official band Bob Marley performed with his more – let's say – authentic son. The Wailers and Julian Marley is pure nitro glycerine, it is the original sound mixed with the voice, mannerisms and charisma worthy of "Father Marley". Julian is the son who comes closest in trying to "materialize" the king of reggae on stage, and this contributes greatly to the experience of those watching.

OPENING WITH PLAN AND ROOT

The band Planta e Raiz was responsible for opening the show with their range of hits, and with 16 years on the road they are many. Opening with "Amor e Paz" and "Com Certeza", the atmosphere heated up in the giant Espaço das Américas. "Tente Outra Vez" (cover of Raul Seixas), "Aquele Lugar" and "Kaya" (cover of Bob Marley) brought the last ones away to join the crowd.

"Pra Poucos" made the crowd sing, and "Um Novo Amanhecer" - a song in partnership with Ponto de Equilíbrio - showed the unity and strengthening of the national scene. The only "however" is that Planta should have entered a little earlier or performed a shorter show, due to part of the public returning via the subway.

HEAVY INTERVAL

While the stage was prepared for the arrival of the legendary Wailers and the "prince" Julian, DJ Gustah from Echo Sound System and the singers Dada Yute and Ras Kadhu from the band Jah i Ras excited the crowd with their rocks "Mo Fyah" and "Eu e Eu Derrubo a Babilônia" respectively. Gustah also sent classics by names like Yellowman and even a mashup with "Um Bom Lugar", by the late rapper Sabotage.

THE WAILERS AND JULIAN MARLEY

Around 00:00 it was time for Julian Marley and the Wailers to spread the magic of "royal roots" in Espaço das Américas. Just as Bob Marley started several of his shows, "Natural Mystic" was the opening for the arsenal of successes that were to come. The imposing marking in "A minor" by keyboardist Tyrone Dowie was hair-raising!

"Revolution" and "Survival" followed, leaving Brazilian fans of Bob Marley's rich legacy ecstatic. It was chilling to hear Julian's voice - very similar to his father's - mixed with that original sound mass promoted by legendary musicians such as the guitarists Earl "Chinna" Smith and Owen Reid, the sax of Glen Dacosta and, of course, the holder of the Wailers' flame, the bassist Aston "Familyman" Barrett. Next, "Lion in the Morning", by Julian Marley, preceded the highs "Rastaman Vibration", "The Heathen" and "Rebel Music", which showed how dense and with "militant veins standing out" this show was. With the exception of romantic songs like "No Woman no Cry" on BIS, the show was practically filled with more questioning and heavier songs. Perhaps this "loving facet" of the king was missing in the setlist.

Always risking a few words in Portuguese like "Cool!", "How are you?" and "São Paulooooo", the highlight was "WHAT HOT!!!", in Julian's obvious perception of the last scorching days in several states in Brazil. In addition to this relaxation, the band also softened with "Stir it Up", but soon returned to reflection with "Want More" and "Bend Down Low". Closing the magical and imposing performance with coherence, "Roots Rock Reggae", "Crazy Baldheads" and the fabulous "Exodus" give the last chords to the passage of these beasts through the capital of São Paulo. The tour, which had already completed nine presentations in cities such as Salvador, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre, now heads to Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Ceará and Brasília. Bless!
