A hit in Rihanna's voice, a version of 'Man Down' is the fourth single from Aline Duran's EP!

The hit released by Rihanna and written by Theron and Timothy Thomas — brothers responsible for numerous Billboard top hits and Grammy winners in the music world — is part of the singer's new EP of Jamaican-style reinterpretations. Aline Duran interprets the song over the instrumental "I Love Riddim", recorded by names such as Anthony B and Luciano, and produced by German producer Thilo Jacks aka Teka. On the track, Aline says: I had already been playing this track at my DJ shows and also in my side project 'Subversões', and I decided to record it for this reinterpretations compilation. It's a powerful song that gained even more weight with this riddim". The EP consists of unusual interpretations of famous songs from pop, rock, bossa, jazz and soul, placed within the reggae universe through instrumental bases known as "riddims", well-known to reggae audiences.

THE STORY BEHIND "MAN DOWN"

There is an interesting curiosity surrounding the composition "Man Down" that connects to the world of reggae. The songwriters wrote it as a response to Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff", but told from a woman's perspective. The original music video sparked controversy as it dealt with a rape case in which the victim shoots the attacker.
