Zebulon Fyah and Red Meditation band open a new season on International Reggae Day!
With new line-up, the group performs live again on July 1st and releases new clip With roots rooted in the essence of Jamaican roots reggae and drinking from more contemporary sound sources, Zebulon Fyah and the band Red Meditation resume their work and return to the world reggae scene. In a new season, after a hiatus of more than ten years, the group debuts in an unprecedented lineup, led by the singer and composer from Bahia, based in California (USA), Zebulon Fyah. The return could not be more representative and takes place in a live, online and free show, held on July 1st, International Reggae Day, at 7pm, on the official Surfeggae Portal channel on YouTube.

MESSAGE, RHYTHM AND MELODY

The triad of "message, rhythm and melody", which drives the band's career, has been the same for 20 years. At the basis of the work are awareness songs and meditations set to music, timeless messages about love, the anti-racist fight and against any type of prejudice, which are even more necessary in pandemic times, anchored by the solid foundation of pure reggae music.

As the launch song for this new season, the group brings "Amor Universal", a recent composition by header Zebulon Fyah, with a powerful message for current times. What happens in the world today impacts each of us individually. And, more than ever, we need to remember that, regardless of differences, what connects us, religion, is and always will be love.”, summarizes Zebulon. In addition to him, bassist Ricardo Red Lion is also a remnant of the original Red Meditation lineup. They are joined by new members Sidnei Rasta, on drums, Lucas Fyah, on guitar, as well as Igor Curinga Rabugento and Daniel Couto, on keyboards. In the studio since May, the band has been working on new songs that will soon form a new product. In addition to the live show, the group's return also features the music video "África", taken from the latest work in Zebulon Fyah's solo career, scheduled for release in 2022. Red Meditation was born in Bahia, in 1999, and released its first album, “Jah Music”, in 2002. At the time Zebulon was known as Ras Popo Ites, and performed percussion and backing vocals. There were several formations, with musicians from different countries, six works released until 2008 and seasons that gained international prestige. In 2012, after a period in Brasília, now known as Zebulon Fyah, the artist released his first solo album “ Nunca é Tarde ” and began traveling between Brazil and the United States, between tours and reggae festivals in both countries. In 2018 he released his most recent EP, “Roots & Cultural”.

FROM ROOTS TO NEW

In this resumption, the group brings the fundamental influences of Rastafarian roots reggae, from artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, The Congos, Steel Pulse and Midnite, names that, in addition to bringing a solid base in musical arrangements, also cast their gaze on Africa and the events that took place there, resulting in the social, political and spiritual movement that is the Rastafari movement, which has reggae music as its main instrument of message.

But more recent productions from the new roots reggae generation, such as Mighty Diamonds, Damian Marley and Chronixx also mark their influence.

LIVE ON SURFOREGGAE

For International Reggae Day, singer Zebulon Fyah and the band Red Meditation prepare a repertoire - according to Fyah - “heavy, with a lot of bass and drums”! It will be a mix of songs that marked the band's career, such as "Mensageiro", "Espiritual" and "Amor Incondicional", as well as more recent songs that trace Zebulon's solo career, which has been consolidated for 10 years on the Brazil - California bridge. The live stream features a presentation by music producer Rafael Costa and will air at 7pm on Surforeggae's YouTube channel, the largest website specializing in Reggae in Latin America.
