Black Uhuru

Black Uhuru 是牙买加 reggae 乐队，以 "Shine Eye Gal"、"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"、"Sinsemilla"、"Solidarity" 和 "What Is Life?" 等热门歌曲著称，1985 年 reggae 类别设立时获 Grammy。

原名 Black Sounds Uhuru（uhuru 在 Swahili 意为"freedom"），由 Stan "Roy Scientist" Palmer 命名。首批成员 Garth Dennis、Don Carlos 和 Derrick "Duckie" Simpson。阵容多次变动；Carlos 离开，Michael Rose 接替；Dennis 加入 Wailing Souls，Errol Nelson 入替。

最著名录音为 "Love Crisis"，后重新发行 Black Sounds Of Freedom。1979 年来自美国 South Carolina 的 social worker Sandra "Puma" Jones 加入。Rose、Simpson 和 Jones 与 Sly & Robbie 发行 Sinsemilla、Red、Chill Out 和 Grammy 获奖 Anthem 等。乐队成为全球最受欢迎的 reggae 组合之一，与 The Clash、The Police、The Rolling Stones 巡演。
