Wake of former Filosofia Reggae singer Veto draws more than 500 people!
Veto's wake drew more than 500 people, including relatives, friends and fans of the band, on Tuesday afternoon in São Caetano. Everyone criticized the way the singer was killed the day before. Relatives and close friends said Veto was riding his bicycle toward rehearsal at one of the band musicians' house in São Bernardo. They also said a witness would have seen police shoot the singer at point-blank range, and that he was not armed. The young man, who doesn't know us personally but is a fan of the band, went to the IML (Medical-Legal Institute) and told us he saw the officer get out of the patrol car and shoot Veto in the back, without following standard procedure. Then the boy asked them to call Rescue, but they refused, waited for him to die and put him in the patrol car" - said a band musician. A band production company employee said that when relatives and friends went to the emergency room where Veto was treated, a nurse would have commented that the police "got tangled up when telling the version of what happened". She also said they seemed nervous and, until that moment, no one knew which officer who had shot was in civilian clothes.

Created two years ago, band Filosofia Reggae had 16 shows scheduled for this month in cities like Pindamonhangaba, Santos, Mongaguá, São Bernardo and São Paulo. The group had performed at São Caetano's anniversary in July, opened Cidade Negra's show 15 days ago in São Bernardo, and was preparing to open for Planta e Raiz, another famous São Paulo reggae band.
