Musician Itamar Assumpção dies in São Paulo! Learn more!
Musician Itamar Assumpção died on Thursday night at the age of 53, a victim of intestinal cancer. He was at home in São Paulo. The musician had had the disease for four years and was being treated at the Cancer Hospital, but chose to receive treatment at home. According to friends, he felt weak because of the effects of chemotherapy. Itamar Assumpção was born Francisco José Itamar de Assumpção, in Tietê, in the interior of São Paulo, on September 13, 1949. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Anelis, 23, and Serena, 26, who are singers. He recorded his first album in 1980, mixing reggae, samba, rock and funk. In total, there were seven albums. The album "PretoBrás", released in 1998, was the musician's last work. Itamar Assumpção, who was without a record label, was preparing an independent CD and a book. The musician's body will be buried on Friday at Cemitério Jardim das Colinas, in São Bernardo do Campo.
