Jimmy Cliff receives Order of Merit medal in Jamaica!

Jimmy Cliff was awarded an Order of Merit Medal for his work in Film and Music, which took the name of Jamaica further. The award is one of the most recognized honors in Jamaica, and the artist was very happy to have been recognized by his own people.

The award ceremony was on October 20, at King's House in Kingston - Jamaica. The award can belong to a maximum of 15 living people at the same time, and Jimmy Cliff is one of 5 today. Among the other honorees one can mention Professor Manley West and Doctor Albert Lockhart, who developed a medicine for the Treatment of Glaucoma(a disease from which the great star Peter Broggs recently suffered).

For those who don't know, the great star Jimmy Cliff lived in Salvador, and performed a show in the 1980s in that same City for more than 80,000 people. He is a very simple person, and once I met him at the same Dental Office I frequent; we talked a lot about Reggae and about Bahia, for which he showed great passion.
