Buju Banton, Grammy nominee in the Reggae Category, gets into major trouble!

At the height of his career, singer Buju Banton has gotten into big trouble. His first hit single, "Browning" sparked discussions about a racial debate. Negative comments came from all sides, and there are many controversies surrounding the singer. During a stay in the Cayman Islands, Buju was arrested for firing a gun in public. He spent time in jail for the offense and was punished by local authorities. With the release of the single "Boom Bye Bye", Buju got into the biggest challenge of his career.

The gay community harshly criticized the artist, claiming that the song incites the death of homosexuals. The fight is in the courts, and things don't seem to be going very well for the singer. Another recent controversy involving the singer who follows Rastafarianism was a police pursuit that arrested him for possession of marijuana, and found a marijuana plantation at his home. The incident happened hours after the announcement of his Grammy nomination for best Reggae album.

Mark Myrie (Buju Banton's real name) is in a fight with the authorities because of his frequent disrespect. Rastafarians have had the right to use "Marijuana" for decades. The singer's arrests, which have happened several times, come at a time when the Jamaican Parliamentary Committee is discussing the decriminalization of the herb. "I am one of the people who fight hardest for the decriminalization of the herb," says Buju, "Rastas use the herb as a Religious Sacrament, so they should not be persecuted".

Despite the confusion he has gotten into, the singer had a packed schedule this year, touring Europe, North America, the Caribbean, among other locations, promoting his new album "Friends for Life", which is competing for the Grammy for best Reggae album. A few days after the arrest for possession of marijuana, Buju Banton returned from Anguilla where he performed a wonderful show, heading to Florida to play at the "Reggae Carifest" Festival.
