Learn more about DJAMBI, the band taking Brazil's name to major festivals abroad!

The incredible energy, the transcendent sound and the heartbeat groove. These are the characteristics of Djambi's reggae. Brazilian reggae taken to the world. Djambi has been active since 1995, and on this journey has released four albums in Brazil (one of them recorded live in Chicago, USA) and a DVD independently, and the album Coletânea Djambi, on the French label Mosaic Music-Riddim & Progresso.
In its history, it has performed with Junior Marvin and Andrew McIntier (ex-members of The Waillers), Peter Broggs, Papa Winnie, Andrew Tosh, Muta Baruka, The Scientist, (P.A. operator) Izrah from Saint Lucia (Caribbean) and Yellen from Ivory Coast. Since 1999, Djambi has annually undertaken a tour across the European continent, having performed shows in France, Switzerland, Slovenia, Macedonia, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. In June 2004, Djambi set off on its sixth European tour, performing shows in Rome, Marseille, Paris, Briançon and at the Reggae Sun Ska Festival in France.
On this journey, it shared the stage with the Jamaicans of the legendary Skatalites, pioneers of Ska and Reggae in the world, with international bands Jabu'z, Stay Roots, Reggae Gang Jah, Sons of Gaia, with Brazilian Trio Mocotó. Djambi is like this — it takes to the world the richest Brazil has to offer — music and culture.
It was like this at the Sunsplash Festival, the world's largest reggae festival, at the High Foundation Festival, an alternative culture festival held in Ferrara, Italy, at the Diamante Festival in Diamante, and also in Slovenia at the Riversplash show, and it will be the same at the Montreux Jazz Festival, one of the most famous and traditional festivals in Europe, held on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland for thirty-eight years.
At the 38th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, from July 2 to 17, 2004, Paralamas do Sucesso, Jorge Ben Jor, Luiz Melodia and Grupo Revelação have already taken the stage on the night dedicated to Brazil, as well as shows by B.B. King, Phil Collins, Deep Purple, Alicia Keys, Al Jerau, Korn, Cheap Trick, Dr. John, The Corrs, and on July 16, it is Djambi's turn to take the stage at the Stravinski Auditorium.
Djambi performs on the same night when the main attractions are British singer Dido and French pop band Phoenix. The show is scheduled for 12:15 AM on the 16th, at the Montreux Jazz Club, and like João Bosco, Djambi performs on a separate night from the night dedicated to Brazilian musicians.
All of this is the result of much work and dedication in spreading reggae culture, diffuse in Brazilian culture, which Djambi carries in the form of music and positive energies to all places, hearts and minds. Djambi continues on its 2004 tour, returning to Brazil on August 14 for a rest period and subsequently resuming its shows on national territory.
