R-Evolução Urbana represented a crowd fighting to change São Paulo's sad reality! Check it here!
Last Sunday, the 18th, Vila Guilherme, in the north of São Paulo, hosted R-Evolução Urbana, an event with humanitarian and cultural goals for low-income youth. As with AçãoReggae, which is one of the supporters, a stage truck was installed for band performances and, by the way, heavyweight bands from the National Reggae scene. Reggae Style, Filosofia Reggae, Leões de Israel, Jahcareggae, 3º Visão and Enganjados. To represent the hip-hop crowd, we had the group Função RHK.

ACTIVITIES

Beyond the strong musical schedule, art, sports and citizenship were also present with a Graffiti exhibit, a Skate championship and the collection of food and warm clothes, respectively. Scheduled to start at 14:00, the miniramp installed for the championship already showed its devotees. Highlight for young Aurélio, a beginner competitor always cheered by the crowd.
The walls of Francisco Duarte street gradually took shape and color at the hands of the graffiti artists. Several different styles gave a special touch to the event, always fueled by plenty of reggae and hip-hop from the DJs present. And where there is reggae there is always the "Bandeirão Regueiro" crew, whose photos you can check here or on their site OFICIAL.
Those who showed up also had the pleasure of running into the "a Família" crew, an international Christian group dedicated to sharing the word and the love of God. There, they handed out pamphlets and magazines with wise words from the book "O Leão, o Dragão e a Besta", and from the Bíblia Sagrada. Those who liked the initiative can learn more about the project at the site OFICIAL.

THE BANDS

The first band to take the R-Evolução Urbana stage was Filosofia Reggae. Those who know them know: love without hypocrisy. The weight of the bass drew a lot of attention, especially in the songs "Sentimento Bom", "África" and "De Quem é a culpa". It started with excellent reception from the crowd, which kept arriving, showing it was worth facing this cloudy and cold Sunday in São Paulo. The next band was Função RHK, whose sharp and militant lyrics represented the voice of the people in the distinctive hip-hop groove. Next, without losing the rhythm, the ragga/reggae group Enganjados stirred up the heaviest spot in Vila Guilherme, which by then was packed.
Now it was time for the roots reggae band 3º Visão, which played in place of the originally scheduled Vibrações de Jah. Rastafari-inspired clothing, specific percussion instruments and a lot of heavy blows to our heads were the mark the band left on everyone. The drums with the complex cadence of Reggae Roots introduced the next and most awaited bands of the event: Leões de Israel, Jahcareggae and Reggae Style.
Movement in front of the stage; those who were in the back came closer... Leões de Israel was positioned on stage. Introducing the first and crushing bass lines of Edu Sattajah, we had Fox's insane performance, and even more insane were the classics they had prepared. Besides the band's already consecrated hits, the setlist included none other than Burning Spear, Black Uhuru, Eak-a-Mouse, etc. Even with some audio problems in the show, Solano Rasta kept the pace and did not stop "attacking" the crowd with the strong presentation of Leões.
Taking over the R-Evolução Urbana stage, Jahcareggae brought its reggae full of branches and positive messages. And speaking of positive, by this time the space set aside for food and warm clothes was already well committed, which made the show even more special for its attitude toward the needy people. Reggae Roots with Dub, New Age, Nyabinghi, Ska, Rockers, Rock&Steady and Rythim&Blues are the rhythms from which the band creates its original and excellent compositions. "Primeira Pedra", "Cristo Fará" and "Fé e Convicção" are good examples. A slight change in the weather, unfortunately, introduced the next and long-awaited attraction: Reggae Style.
The slight change in the weather starts to worry, but Carlos Dread and CIA give no break to the on-duty regueiros. The band's successes are already public domain, and Reggae Style responds with great sequences. In a few minutes, the drizzle from the start of the presentation turns into a heavy rain, ending the Reggae Style show and the event at last. Even with 4 or 5 songs performed, the audience leaves very satisfied, as they were able to witness an event filled with competent bands and a lot of peace. Congratulations to the organizers who, with great tact, maintained order and respect, keeping parents and grandparents, women and children, in short, EVERYONE present in deep tranquility. Putting on a show of this nature is very possible... "AçãoReggae", and now "R-Evolução Urbana" are proof of that. Big ones, enough hypocrisy, let's collaborate... the way out is hard work, but it is simpler than it seems.
