Dennis Brown Foundation carries out important social work in Jamaica! See it on Surforeggae!

Dennis Brown, one of the greatest icons in the history of global Reggae, considered the Prince of Reggae, would be 48 years old today, if it weren't for serious health problems that took him to “the other plane”. Brown undoubtedly left a great legacy for humanity, not only musically speaking, but an example of a life focused on social commitment.

Speaking of the social work carried out by the “Crown Prince of Reggae Music” (as he was known in Jamaica), we can mention the “Dennis Brown Foundation”, which is currently developing an important scholarship project for children aged 10 to 12 who are interested in cultural and educational development.

The scholarship that is used to cover the cost of books, school fees and other important activities has encouraged many young people in Jamaica Schools. The aid, which is 15 thousand dollars per year, has benefited almost 50 students since 2001. Dennis Brown, who started singing at the age of 11 in the famous “Studio One”, was one of the most creative and sentimental singers in Jamaica, having scored hundreds of “hits”. Born on February 1, 1957, the idol passed away on July 1, 1999 (shortly after a confusing tour of Brazil), due to health problems caused by the AIDS virus.
