Another day of glory for reggae in Brazil. Andrew Tosh returns, this time to the capital of Paraná, to carry out
his show together with the bands Adão Negro and Hastaii. Our team embarked with the group from Adão Negro towards Curitiba in the early hours of July 1st, the same day as the event. First of all, we would like to thank you for all the attention and professionalism in the production of the Adão Negro towards the Surforeggae, which reflects on the quality of our work.
The venue for the show was Curitiba Master Hall (formerly Forum), and the band that opened the night's sequence of performances was Hastaii. For those who don't know, this band has Gibi on vocals, a member of the band Djambi. Mixing her own songs and some covers in her setlist, Hastaii puts on an excellent show, and Gibi, with all her experience, easily leads the audience to participate in the classics "Three Little Birds" and the powerful "Redemption Song". Other songs like "Bala na Agulha", "Jogo" and "Senzala" are instantly popular.
While Hastaii ended its performance with "Ska", the band Adão Negro was concentrated in the dressing rooms. When the
announced, the delirium was general, it was clear that the largest audience was supported by them. Serginho, in Edson style
Gomes in camouflage clothing, gives the order to unload a killer string of hits: "Bota na sua cabeça", "Sinto Assim" and "Feed Back". The setlist caused non-stop choruses, as in "Vence Tudo", "Adão Negro" and "Marasmo". At a certain point in the show, Serginho praised the importance of the union of musicians, giving space to a band of São Paulo in constant rise, Expressão Regueira, represented by its vocalist, Mastiga.
The song performed in the partnership was "Lembranças de um Lual", a big hit by Expressão, and a cover of Bob Marley, "Coming from the Cold". Mastiga thanks you for the space and shows all your affection for your friends at Adão Negro. To close with a flourish, Serginho calls the ravishing hits "Botar Um", "Vai Morrer Pra Lá" and "Paz de Jah". Master Hall has gone down!
The time of expectation arrives. In the dressing rooms, Andrew gave in to some requests for photos and autographs. Minutes later, after
presentation of his support band, the star takes the stage. It's always a unique experience, as it's like seeing Peter Tosh live, due to his vocal power and tremendous physical resemblance to the "heir"... and the similarities don't stop there, as his setlist for the occasion is entirely based on his father's immortal classics.
"Coming Hot", "Stop that Train" and "Steppin Razor", present in the film "Rockers", just prove the magic of the moment. Andrew gives himself completely, as if embodying his progenitor in "Mystic Man" and "Rastafari is". If the audience was already in a state of ecstasy, imagine when the sequence "Equal Rights", "Johnny B Goode", "Get Up Stand Up" and "Legalize it" are performed? Easy to imagine...
This was the presentation of Andrew Tosh in Curitiba, and let's hope contractors take this great show to other states. Until next time!
