A different and lively trip on Northeastern Day, celebrated on October 8th, a Saturday, is whatCPTM(Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) promises in one of theExpresso Lestecompositions, inLinha E(Luz-Guaianazes). On the train that will depart at 10:30 am fromEstação Guaianazes, heading toBrás, forró groups, specialists in cordel literature and in the sudden (challenge singing), will perform along the route. In each car, there will be at least one attraction. Upon arrival, around 11:10 am, the event continues atEstação Brás, where everyone performs again atEspaço Cultural. The highlight isTrio Virgulino, which “opens its doors” by sponsoring the event. Formed 25 years ago, the group is recognized throughout the country for spreading the rhythm, especially the so-called “forró pé-de-serra”. “We couldn’t help but pay homage to them on this date, as they symbolize the success of this very Brazilian sound”, saysRodrigo Assis, event coordinator. The “forrozeiros” and other artists were chosen precisely with the purpose of stimulating work. They are:O Bando de Maria,Brasas do Nordeste,Trio AmizadeandPrincesinha do Nazaré– all forró groups;Sebastião Marinho(repentista) andCosta Sena(cordelista).
