On November 24, DigitalDubs Sound System with the legend Mad Professor at Teatro Rival Petrobrás!
Neil Fraser was born in Guyana and as a boy had an irresistible curiosity about radios and their electronic circuits. He liked to play at taking apart and putting together the family radio, which caused him many problems at home and left him with the nickname by which he is known worldwide today, Mad Professor. Today he takes apart and puts together music in the studio of his Ariwa label in London, a kind of modern temple of dub, the branch of reggae already inseparable from his name. From there came works such as Mystic Warrior, with Lee Perry, Mad Professor Captures Pato Banton, and Dub Revolutionarys, with Sly & Robbie and Dean Fraser, to give just a few examples already released in Brazil. He has also remixed a track for Cidade Negra and the entire album Mad Professor meets Marcelinho da Lua in a Dubwise Style (Deckdisc). Digitaldubs Sound System is the first sound crew in Rio de Janeiro specialized in dub, reggae and dancehall. For four years they have promoted crowded parties, and besides the traditional residency at Casa da Matriz (RJ), they perform at events throughout Brazil such as Humaitá Pra Peixe (RJ), Java (SP), Dubstyle (BH) and Tim Festival 2004 (SP), where they shared the stage with the great Jamaican Sound System Stone Love. Besides DJ sets, Digitaldubs has an intense music production work in its own studio, Muzambinho, where they have already recorded with B-Negão, Mr. Catra and Ras Bernardo and produced remixes for Quinto Andar, Nação Zumbi and Gilberto Gil. In 2005 the track D´Oxum Dub came out on the English compilation Roots of Dub Funk vol. 5 and soon we will have the release of the awaited album Digitaldubs Apresenta Brasil Riddims vol. 1. This month, after performing in France, Chile and Argentina, and before heading to Mexico, Mad Professor will stop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a single performance at Teatro Rival Petrobrás, on November 24, at 9 p.m., at the invitation of his friends from Digitaldubs Sound System. The night will also feature the special participation of the great lady of English reggae Sylvia Tella.
