After a successful first edition held in August last year at Minima Galeria, the Visões project continues to showcase the artistic interpretation of musical genres through exclusive works by designers, art directors, visual artists, videographers and photographers. Once again, the sound universe covered is dub, one of the most important musical genres of the last century. Prioritizing bass and drums, removing all (or almost all) of the original vocals, constantly tinkering with equalization and using delays, reverbs and other sound effects, Jamaican sound engineers created hypnotic, meditative and psychedelic music. They were the first to use the studio as a musical instrument -- and thus invented the remix, deconstructing the original song to create another from it. Needless to say, dub has influenced all contemporary music since then, especially electronic music -- house, ambient, garage, trip-hop, drum & bass and even rap. The 2nd edition of the Visões Dub exhibition will be held from March 25th to April 25th at Espaço Repercussivo, Av. Gastão Senges 185 Lj. 129 Underground, Barra da Tijuca.
