The band Raízes Rasta is nominated for the "Cena Musical Independente Brasileira" award!

During the months of January and February, more than 300 journalists, producers and opinion makers across the country, mapping and organizing nominations for the 21 categories that cover the entire spectrum of independent music and those who support them. The choice refers to the outstanding works in 2006, but, at the curator's discretion, works from 2005 and 2007 may also be included. Banda Raízes Rasta, already seven years on the road, is one of the bands nominated in the Reggae category, where the band's musical identity and maturity are made explicit in the new album Um Jeito de Virar Tudo, bringing well-crafted songs added to elements of other rhythms such as Samba, Hip Hop and MPB. The new CD is a big news on the music scene, containing 17 tracks produced by the band itself. This new work brings new influences such as the re-recording of the song São Gonça, by the composer Seu Jorge, a musician currently very recognized on the national and international scene.

THE AWARD

The award is part of the project "Cena Musical Independente Brasileira - Research and Publication of the main works launched in 2006" which has the support of Secretaria de Estado da Cultura through Programa de Apoio à Cultura do Estado de São Paulo. This year, the award comes with the sponsorship of Toddy. Voting for the best of 2006 has already begun, with the closing scheduled for May 10, 2007. To vote, you will need to access the websitewww.premiotoddy.com.br, register a valid email and wait for the link and password to be sent. Once you have the link and password, you will have access to an exclusive ballot with all the categories and nominees. The award ceremony will take place in June 2007 in São Paulo.
