MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! One year after theft, Luizinho Nascimento's cherished trumpet is recovered!

Luizinho Nascimento, a well-known multi-instrumentalist - but above all a trumpet player - on the reggae scene, had been suffering for a year with the loss of his favorite instrument. In July last year, a friend's car was broken into and only his trumpet was taken. Emotional attachment comes from several factors, such as having had it for 20 years and all the effort put into buying it. I even went hungry to pay for this instrument..." - says Luizinho with a choked voice for an article on TV Record. (see article) Having shared the stage with reggae beasts (and many other rhythms) such as Don Carlos, Pablo Moses, Andrew Tosh, Filosofia Reggae, Raízes Rasta, Dagô Miranda, Aline Duran, Mato Seco, among many others, Luizinho came to fear for his career, and intensified his search for his trumpet.

A HAPPY ENDING

After much searching, Luizinho finally found the stolen instrument being sold on the internet. Even with the registration mark scraped off, other details of the instrument, such as wear on the metal parts, helped with identification. The musician then called the police and arranged to meet the seller at a subway station. There, the officers arrested the 48-year-old suspect, charging him - at the very least - as a fencer. Shortly after testimony, the man was released. The Surforeggae team greatly celebrates this recovery, and thanks everyone involved. FYAH!
